OrativeProduct: Orative Software
Description: Orative develops software solutions that improve the efficiency
of voice communications for enterprise mobile phone users.
Orative applications deliver time-saving availability and schedul-ing
feedback to let users be more responsive to business
demands. With Orative client-server software, mobile phone
users quickly can coordinate conversations, screen unwanted
calls and interruptions, and access enterprise directories. Orative
transforms the mobile phone into a true business phone.
DEMO says: The cell phone is the ubiquitous tool of mobile professionals.
Still, it is fundamentally a consumer device and provides only a
fraction of the functionality that businesspeople have come to
expect from a PBX-based desk phone. Orative addresses this by
delivering enterprise-class call management services to mobile
devices. By adding features that let a mobile professional man-age
availability and that provide context (Caller ID, criticality,
subject) to calls, Orative’s platform brings new usability and
effectiveness to mobile phones.
Market Outlook: Orative targets mainstream enterprise employees who rely upon
mobile phones to support daily business operations. IDC estimat-ed
that more than 60M people in the U.S. use a mobile phone
at work. On average, mobile calls make up more than 40% of
all calls made or received on the job (IDC).
Funding: Orative completed a $6M Series A round of venture financing
in June 2003 from Mayfield and Diamondhead Ventures. The
company completed a $12M Series B round of venture financ-ing
in July 2004 led by Trinity Ventures with participation from
Mayfield and Diamondhead Ventures.
