apps for phones Ltd.Product: apps for phones
Description: apps for phones is a point-and-click Rapid Application
Development tool that lets non-Java programmers create com-pelling
applications for the massive number of J2ME phones.
Its sophisticated integration with Web services makes it simple
to seamlessly integrate these applications into any network
system. Precise, pixel-level control and providing everything
needed in one fully integrated software package make it easy
for anyone to build and test applications using the wide
range of built-in phone emulators.
DEMO says: There are some 350M Java-enabled mobile phones and near-ly
as many implementation and interpretations of J2ME inter-face
commands. That is to say, in the mobile market, Java
developers don’t “write once, run anywhere.” Instead, they
must tune the application interface for each target handset.
Frustrated J2ME developers themselves, apps for phones has
created a complete rapid-application-development platform
that solves the mobile interface problem so that a Java app
will look similar on every device.
Market Outlook: There are already more than 200M Java-based phones in cir-culation,
with estimates this will grow to approximately 1B by
the end of 2006 (Gartner/ARC). We predict, based on a
variety of metrics, there is a market potential of up to 15M
software developers looking to build applications for phones
and wireless devices.
Funding: Entirely self-funded
Competitors: Data Representations, Inc.
