Adesso Systems
Product: Adesso
Description: Adesso provides a configurable platform for automating field-based processes for the distributed enterprise, workgroup, or
mobile professional on any Windows-based mobile device.
Business users build and deploy tailored process solutions in a
few days, managing the exchange of information to and from
the mobile worker and from back-office or legacy information
sources. Process changes can be implemented as they hap-pen
without disrupting productivity. Adesso provides every-thing
necessary to implement tailored process solutions without
writing code.
DEMO says: We have followed the course of this company since its incep-tion
as thinkingBytes — although the company you see here
this week as Adesso Systems has little resemblance to the one
that appeared at DEMOmobile 2002. But the early experi-ence
in building a robust database for the Palm OS surely is
evidenced in the platform Adesso offers today, a platform that
enables agile, adaptable, and cost-effective applications to
edge devices. By supporting an occasionally connected
model and delivering data efficiently to the client, Adesso’s
platform integrates field service data collection and delivery
into the corporate workflow.
Market Outlook: Gartner expects that by 2010, 80% of key business process-es will involve the exchange of real-time information involving
mobile workers. Organizations using business processes as
strategic differentiators can increase visibility into market
changes and distribute critical intelligence to the field worker
closest to customers by automating processes at the edge of
the enterprise.
Funding: Adesso secured $8M in funding from Carlyle Venture Partners
with participation from Adesso’s previous investors.
Competitors: Direct competition comes from internal IT development efforts.
